Volunteering

Volunteer work is what keeps a lot of the community organisations going and is very rewarding and empowering for the individuals. This page celebrates some of the people who contribute to our area.

Rainbow’s End

Volunteers in Burngreave come from all around the world, as I discovered when I talked recently to some of the 40 people who work voluntarily at Rainbow’s End charity shop at Sorby House

Messenger volunteer - Brent Moya

I began writing for the Burngreave Messenger on a voluntary basis over 3 years ago and have covered a wide range of stories.

CAB volunteers

Laurie Marris has worked at the Pitsmoor CAB for about a year. After finishing her law degree, she wanted some experience before starting solicitor training

Volunteering with the NHS

Arwa Alansi came to the UK 3 years ago and is from Yemen. She is qualified in haematology and worked in a hospital laboratory for 13 years. She is married and has a little boy.

Helping the homeless

Azeb comes from Eritrea and she has lived in Sheffield about three years. She has two children.
