The priorities identified at the Burngreave PACT meeting on the 4th February were antisocial behaviour and shoplifting at the shops at the top of Barnsley Road.
In response, we conducted high visibility foot patrols in the area and spoke to a number of people in the streets. Parent Advisory Letters were issued to parents of a number of youths, which warned of potential for Anti Social Behaviour Orders being served. This is the first step towards becoming involved in the ASBO process and is often enough of a deterrent to stop this behaviour. Two offenders have also been identified and arrested in relation to shoplifting offences.
These are key examples of the PACT process in action.
Following the last PACT meetings held in March at Sorby House and the Pakistan Advice Centre, the local priorities agreed in the Burngreave and Fir Vale Communities are:
Drug dealing in Firshill Gardens and Orphanage Road
Parking issues at Mosque times on Osgathorpe Road
Reported anti social behaviour around Popple Street and Wade Street
Drug dealing, motorcycle misuse and groups loitering causing anti social behaviour around Hinde Street and Hinde House Crescent
Criminal damage, arson and theft from allotments on Windmill Lane
Progress on these priorities will be discussed at the next PACT meetings.
