The Messenger has had another two votes of confidence with grants from two charitable trusts who have seen the benefit of our work in the community: many thanks to the Scurrah Wainwright Charity and Sheffield Town Trust.
This is especially good news as we have lost some of our funding for the coming year in the New Deal cuts.We knew the funding would end but our funding plans were based on an agreed end date of November. It’s a blow, but it will not be enough to stop the Messenger.
With the end of both the Area Panel and New Deal Burngreave needs strong community activity more than ever, and although the funding cuts are drastic they are still tiny compared to the money spent on mainstream services from the Council, police, health authority and other statutory bodies. We must ensure these organisations continue to deliver what is needed in Burngreave.
