Story: Arwa Rasea Alansi
On the 7th March 2009 I was invited to International Women’s Day at the Vestry Hall. I was joined by one of my friends and my little son.
When we arrived at the hall we were welcomed by our friends and introduced to some of the African, Pakistani and Indian women at the event.
There was a buffet with a large variety of food from different continents such as African and Asian . We tried some foods which was delicious and tasty.
We joined the dancing which included a performance of the African Caribbean and Asia songs. The performance lifted our minds and hearts and it was fantastic.
It was a really good chance for us to learn about people’s culture and art. My little boy enjoyed dancing with other children and it was a really fantastic night
The event was organised by ACCM Sheffield, based at Sorby House the organisation aims to improve the health and well-being of African women.
