Sheffield Mental Health Citizens Advice Bureau and Advocacy Service is a well established, innovative organisation with its roots in the local and regional community.
The service currently delivers three specialist areas of work to in-patients and service users in the community:
CAB Advice Work: Helping people to claim benefits that they are entitled to, manage finances and debts, deal with housing and employment problems and use training and leisure resources. Advocacy: Helping people to put forward their views about the care they are getting from mental heath services including appointments with GPs, Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Community Mental Health Nurses. Mental Health Act Representation: Representing people detained under the Mental Health Act at Tribunal hearings.
The service is recruiting for the 3 following posts:
Mental Health Specialist Advice Worker
Part-time (17.5 hrs)
Salary: SO1 pro rata £11,874 – £12,659 (actual)
Minimum of 1 year’s welfare rights experience including representation at unified appeal tribunals.
The Specialist Mental Health Worker will have an important leadership role within the advice service. The worker will provide high quality, holistic advice and information for people experiencing mental ill health.
Mental Health Advocacy Worker
Full-time (35 hrs)
Salary: Scale 6 £21,412 – £22,845
The focus of the work will be to enable mental health service users to voice their views in respect of their care and treatment and promote their mental health, general well being and social inclusion.
Advocacy Service Deputy Manager
Part-time (21 hrs)
Salary: SO1 pro rata £14,249 – £15,191 (actual)
This is a new role within the service. We are looking for someone with passion and commitment that can help to develop the service locally and regionally, as health and government policy changes. They will work with the overall manager to promote and sustain a high quality service. Minimum of 1 year’s advocacy case work experience. Experience of supervising staff desired.
The employer pays 8.25% pension contribution after 1 year (backdated) on all posts.
