One to one training for cyclists began this month to encourage and enable more people to cycle more safely.
The training will be delivered by Ruth and Dave, two workers from Pedal Ready, providers of cycle training in Sheffield and Rotherham.
“We want to promote cycling as a way of decreasing the amount of traffic on the roads, improving health and fitness levels, giving pleasure, and of course saving money at the same time! We also want to promote safety as this is obviously a key issue or barrier to many cyclists or potential cyclists.”
The project will target adults (young and old!) who could, would, or already do, use cycling as an actual way of transport. Cycling every day trips, to employment, schools or colleges, community groups, round to the shops, or popping over to see your friends.
“We recognise the need for training to make cycling safer on our busy roads. Our free One to One lessons are geared to making sure people are equipped to deal with these conditions. There will be Dr Bike sessions held around the area, with free bike checks to help people to get their bikes up to scratch and to look after and maintain their bikes at home.”
The workers will be based at Green City Action.
