Christmas Dinner on Andover Street

Story Camille Daughma

Christmas 2007 has been my best so far. I experienced for the first time the true meaning of Christmas.

Burngreave Seventh Day Adventist church had a Christmas dinner for individuals within the community faced with or experiencing homelessness. I have never seen such camaraderie and love displayed amongst a group of people.

Though faced with daily challenges and hardships, all those who attended had smiles on their faces and spoke with optimism. It was heart warming to see the gathering as though one family one blood. Where they came from didn’t matter, neither was the colour of their skin a factor.

Their stories were of their personal struggles but they were all determined not to give up.

I was hoping to give something on Christmas day, but instead I received.
