Women's discussion sessions at Umar Mosque

Women's Discussion Sessions

Women’s sessions are held every Sunday, 12noon to 2pm at Umar Mosque, Barnsley Road, Sheffield.

The Umar Mosque has kindly allowed the use of their premises to allow women to discuss a range of issues affecting women from hijab, prayer, parenting, making a positive contribution to society and coping with the stresses of daily life.

There was a need in the community to have a place where women could come and discuss issues from a friendly Islamic perspective. Ladies from non – Muslim backgrounds are very welcome.

“I find it a friendly place for me to go to find out what’s happening also it’s a good reminder about topics like patience, steadfastness, honesty. Women don’t have very many places to go to find like minded women and it’s motivating as well,’ said Ishrat Khan.

“I find it a useful place to discuss all sorts of things and Islamaphobia as well,” said Anjumaan Khan.

Nimo Islam said: “It’s good to meet women from other cultures and there is a crèche which is important for me”.
