Mosque Planning Appeal

In October 2007 plans to rebuild the Mosque on Barnsley Road were refused by the City Council on the grounds that it would be out of character with local buildings, would inconvenience local residents, and would cause road safety problems due to increased traffic and a lack of adequate parking facilities.

The Mosque has appealed against the decision to the Planning Inspectorate, who will review the application and consider the grounds of the appeal. The deadline for comments was 26th June 2008. The inspectorate will make a site visit in July 2008 and a decision is likely to be made by early September 2008.
