Warrior Square - A Sheffield Theatres Production
Director: Alexander Ferris
Designer: Kevin Jenkins
Composer: Andrew Dodge
The Vestry Hall, Burngreave Road
Following the great evenings we had at the Vestry Hall with the Crucible’s production of A Handful of Henna, we are really pleased to be able to welcome the Crucible back with their new production of Warrior Square.
Warrior Square is a powerful play that takes its audience on a physical and emotional journey with a family of refugees. Based on the experiences of people from Eastern Europe, but with universal application, the play provides a dynamic focus for exploring conflict, prejudice and identity.
Riva and Andrea’s story begins before morning break, in a different school and in a different country. Their lives are turned upside down by civil war and the two children are forced to flee their homeland with their mother to start a new life in England. Ending up in Warrior Square on the south coast, they must cope with their painful memories of home, learn to speak a new language, but hardest of all – deal with life in a new place.
