The Laurie Cunningham Project

The launch of this exciting new project will take place on Thursday 25th October at 5pm.

This event is named after the first black footballer to play for England at the international level, Laurie Cunningham. Laurie attended The Hub, following a request from youth workers, after his first match for England at Bramall Lane on 27th April 1977. People who remember this visit, as well as local football players from the 1970s and 1980s are particularly invited to attend, as workers at Football Unites Racism Divides are hoping to set up an oral history project.

More details will be added to the website as they come in, but in the meantime if anyone requires more information on the project and the event, taking place at Bramall Lane (the home of Sheffield United football club), please contact Lisa Sultanti or Howard Holmes at FURD, on tel: 0114 255 3156
