Notice about the next public meeting

Street cleaning in the Burngreave area has improved over the last three years, helped by additional staff and funds that have been agreed with New Deal for Communities. This funding is not available from next month onwards. How will Street Force maintain the present level of street cleaning? Sara Bradley (Street Cleansing – Street Force) will explain what will happen, and how it will work. In addition, Sara will update the meeting with the other Street Force activities for the Burngreave area.

Parking issues have often been raised at Area Panel meetings – on Ellesmere Green and Spital Hill; around the hospital and at Fir Vale and Page Hall. Eric Lilley, the assistant head of Parking Services, will outline what action is carried out by the City Council parking services teams and will answer any questions.

Carwood tenants & residents association (Carwood TARA) has been recently re-established. The meeting will hear from a representative of the TARA what they think are the current concerns for tenants/residents of Carwood, and Brigitt Westran (Sheffield Homes area manager) has agreed to attend to respond, and outline Sheffield Homes' proposals for improving the Carwood estate.

The meeting will receive a report on the progress being made on the local parks in the area – particularly Abbeyfield Park plans, Burngreave Rec (behind the adventure playground) and other sites.

Lastly, Di Hardiman from Activity Sheffield is going to explain to the meeting the variety of sports and activity programmes that have been run in the area – like the work with young people on Wensley estate, as well as the Burngreave Sports Project – and the plans for the future. In particular, Di is going to outline the plans for Verdon Street Recreation Centre and the Adventure Playground.

The meeting will have opportunities for questions from the public on Council services in the area. Questions can be sent in via email to: andy.shallice@sheffield.gov.uk <andy.shallice@sheffield.gov.uk>.
