Story: Mark Lavendar, Furnival Project Manager
Thanks to the kind donation of £5,110 by The Abbey Charitable Trust to Furnival Burngreave Community Projects (FBCP), they can now purchase a much needed laser colour printer & photocopier, which will help both them and the community.
The cheque was presented at the Furnival on Tuesday 31st July by members of Abbey’s Community Partnership Group.
FBCP is a charity based in what was the old Furnival public house and though beer is no longer on the menu it serves up some very good projects. For instance, the old beer cellar is now home to the Cellar Space, which supports disaffected secondary school age young people to develop their personal skills through various activities and which is highly valued by local schools. The ground floor training rooms host Adult Education courses, Middle Eastern cookery classes, Women’s Health Network and the Introduction to Community Development & Health course, amongst others.
The new colour copier will enhance the work of these groups by producing high quality newsletters, flyers, recipe leaflets, posters, certificates and artwork and will be available to other local groups at a reasonable cost.
