  • Post: IT support worker

  • Salary Scale: £3500 for 25 weeks at 14 hrs per week.

  • Work base: Vestry Hall, 43 Attercliffe Common

  • Hours: 2 days a week

  • Contract period: Feb 2007 for 25 weeks

  • Responsible to: Project Manager/Chief Executive for this project

  • Closing date for applications: Friday 2nd February 2007

Key tasks

  1. To provide IT support and advice services to voluntary and community groups and organizations in Priority 4a areas across South Yorkshire via telephone, email and website helpline services.

  2. To gain and share experience within the P4a communities of server set up and administration

  3. Delivering workshops and customized training events for individual and groups/organizations to meet their specific ICT needs

  4. To update our problem-solving guides

  5. To encourage and provide opportunities for learning and further volunteering in the areas described above

  6. Specific tasks will include upgrading the peer-to-peer network to client server (Fir Vale site), maintaining group policies, security, backup testing and implementation, staff training on use of the new system and software applications and setting up shared resources.

Key responsibilities

  1. Responsible for security and integrity of data held on IT systems, also compliance with the Data Protection Act and other legislation governing the use of IT.

  2. Maintaining accurate and up to date information on all work done.

  3. Maintaining accurate and up to date information on all equipment held in YETC.
