The photography of Burngreave resident Kamida Khan will feature in an exhibition showcasing some of the best creative and cultural businesses and talent from Sheffield’s black and minority ethnic community.

Kamida told us she first took an interest in photography about three years ago.

“I carried out a short neighbourhood photography course, including dark room printing and digital imaging and then through Creative Burngreave I was mentored by professional photographer Richard Hanson who gave me support and encouragement to turn my passion into a career.”

Kamida described the rewarding nature of her work, saying, “Photography is an art for me; it gives me both pleasure and satisfaction to produce the perfect picture.”

Kamida has been building a portfolio of Asian bridal shots and taking images for Illusionz Hair and Beauty under the title Khoobsurat Photography. Feedback has been very positive and her work has been advertised in Asian Bridal magazine, the Messenger and the front cover of the Colour of Health magazine.

She has recently completed an OCN level 3 in photography at Norton College in Sheffield and based on her current success hopes to study for a degree later this year.
