Nahid now has a BA Hons in Social Work with Diploma, but it’s easier said than done when you have a small child and a baby on the way.
“I went to Sheffield Hallam when my daughter was a year an a half. It was a full time course and I was working parttime as well. It wasn’t easy, but I had lots of support from my husband – I really couldn’t have done it without him.”
During the final stages of the course Nahid became pregnant with her son, but essays, exams and a dissertation still had to be done.
“Sometimes I thought I wouldn’t be able to carry on, but I did and it’s worth it. Social Work is a really good degree; most graduates get a job straight away because of the placement you have to do. They offered me a job even before I had my results, and now I’m working in Mental Health Services.”
Nahid’s son was born on Christmas day and is doing well. Congratulations to Nahid and her family.
