Arafat was born and raised in Yemen but has lived in Burngreave for the past 4 years. He is married with 2 children and thoroughly enjoys living in Burngreave. He recently completed his MBA in Business & Administration from the University of Derby.
He decided to complete his Masters as he thoroughly enjoyed studying his undergraduate degree, also in Business and Administration, which he completed in Yemen. However, it was not easy to complete a graduate course for someone coming from abroad. Arafat said: “Although Business is my favourite subject, the course was difficult, but I persevered and took it as a challenge” Arafat currently works as a Project worker for the ‘Streetworx Project’, an organisation that plans events and develops strategies for young people.
He also runs his own businesses – importing perfumes, clothing and other accessories from Yemen and recently opened an internet café in Page Hall.
When asked if he would recommend academic study to others, he replied: “Absolutely – because knowledge is power and wealth.”
