Open Day
SUFC are proposing a three-storey, 20,000 sqft development on land next to the club's Shirecliffe Football Academy. It will include classrooms, accommodation for start-up business, 90 car park spaces and new changing facilities.
We are staging an Open Day on January 9, between 12-5pm at the Impact Social Club at our Academy in Shirecliffe for the community to view the plans, images of the National Skills Academy and to answer any questions they may have.
Sheffield City Council's planning committee will consider the application at the end of February next year, with a proposed start on site set for April.
Sheffield United has been selected by SkillsActive to be home to the National Skills Academy Sports and Active Leisure Hub for Yorkshire and Humberside – initially one of only three in the country.
The National Skills Academy provides information and access to qualifications and training for more than 100,000 new entrants, existing staff and future leaders into the sport and active leisure industry.
The new building will actively enhance the opportunities available to quality learning and significantly improve the skills of the city's workforce, while increasing participation in sport.
The Skills Academy will be led by a national website operating eventually through regional hubs across the country. Currently, two centres have also been announced in London and Penrith.
Completion of the development will be at the end of 2008.
