Streetworx has an opportunity for six young people between the ages of 15 and 21 to train as Young Advisors to become future leaders.
Young Advisors show community leaders and decision makers how to engage with young people in community life. They also ensure that young people are listened to within their community, and encourage young people to become active citizens, as well as acting as role models. Anyone living in the Burngreave New Deal area between 15 and 21 can apply.
If successful, you will need to be able to set aside two full weekends (18th – 19th January 2008 and 22nd – 24th February 2008) for training to take place. After this, you will need to commit four hours per week to work on the scheme.
You will get in return:
Training & qualification in how to influence others positively, budget and set up a social enterprise that can be a route to self-employment;
Experience of working as a Young Advisor – someone who people and organisations will come to for professional advice;
A voice to influence change in favour of young people;
Up to £8 per hour for a maximum of four hours per week, although some voluntary work is also expected.
If you are interested in applying for this opportunity, please contact Streetworx on tel: 0114 272 3628, e-mail: streetworxproject@sheffieldfutures.org.uk or call into the Streetworx office at 204 Verdon Street, Burngreave (next to the recreation centre).
The closing date is Friday 7th December 2007.
