Firshill Tenants and Residents Association raised hundreds of pounds for Children in Need on Friday 16th November at an event held at the Sheffield United Academy. The evening began with a variety of traditional ragtime songs by Sheffield Harmony Ladies’ Barbershop Choir, which the crowd really seemed to enjoy.
Next was a dance performance by Slovakian group “Little Star”, who danced to traditional music. Their sheer energy really seemed to lift the evening. Dinner was then served – pie and peas – and a raffle of tantalising prizes took place. Joyce Rason said:
“I’ve had a lovely evening. Watching the children dancing was marvellous.”
Betty Smalley added:
“It’s been a nice, old-fashioned night with lovely acts.”
Pauline West, Firshill TARA, helped to organise the fundraiser along with the other members. She said:
“It’s been a lovely mix, having the choir and the children. I’ve really enjoyed it, so much so that I wanted to join in with the choir, but I can’t sing a note!”
Firshill TARA thanked the Sheffield United Academy for use of the venue, the Ladies Choir for donating their £100 fee to Children in Need and Little Star for performing for free.
