SADACCA

Story: Camille Daughma

SADACCA was severely hit by the floods. Staff members were shocked at how quickly things changed.

It was lucky there were no children in the building, as usually on Mondays there are study support classes. Within 45 minutes the water was 3-4 feet deep at the front of the building.

Helicopters flew over head, sirens could be heard everywhere. At one point the Police tried taking SADACCA occupants to safety in a dinghy but the current was so fast they advised that staying in the building was the safest option.

The SADACCA Day Care Centre was the worst hit part of the building and lost everything. The total cost of damage is not yet known and cleaning up is still going on. Activities continue as usual in the main building.
