Crumbling Wicker Arch needs £1m for repairs

ONE of Sheffield's most iconic structures has been placed on English Heritage's Buildings At Risk register after suffering decades of decline, flood damage and the theft of stone from its parapets. The graceful central arch, which was built in 1848, is now daubed with graffiti with plants growing out of its side. The line above is only used by occasional freight trains to Stocksbridge steel works.
