Firshill and Pitsmoor Local History Group are a small group from the Firshill estate, most of us born in the area, who got together to reminisce and chat about days gone by.
Anxious that our recollections should not be lost, we got some of our memories about living in the Firshill and Pitsmoor area from the 1920s onwards down on paper in the form of the ‘Down Memory Lane’ booklet. Our next venture involved producing our ‘Schooldays’ booklet – a record of school memories for posterity and today’s schoolchildren.
We have a good selection of old photographs and have displayed these at Burngreave Library; a Local History Fair at the Town Hall and the Children’s Festival. We have also made a series of study trips.
