Claire Blencowe, previously of Fir Vale School and now of Longley Park Sixth Form College has just had a successful competition in the Junior World Diving Championships in Malaysia.

City of Sheffield diving duo, Jodie McGroarty and Claire Blencowe (pictured left) picked up Britain’s first and only medal of the World Junior Diving Championships on the final day of action in Kuala Lumpur.

The pair, who finished fourth in the 3m Springboard Synchro at the European Junior Championships just last month in Majorca, went one better on the world stage to win bronze with 257.37 points.

After taking the lead on the third dive, Jodie (17) and Claire (16), then slipped two places in the final two rounds with China taking the title with 276.00 points. Ukraine won silver with 270.24 points.

Claire also acheived a personal best score in the individual 1- metre competition.
