The popular multicultural Festival Music in the Sun, will be returning to Sheffield, presented by the Burngreave-based NonStop Foundation.
Over the weekend of 29–30th July Music in the Sun will be staged at the Don Valley Grass Bowl. It’s a family event and has grown from a small community festival on a city centre car park in Sheffield into a No 1 award winning multicultural Festival in the north of England.
The organisers promise a funfair, food and trade stalls, workshops and kids activities in the 3DOM Look, Listen and Learn area. There will be a music festival across three arenas featuring the Reggae Sound System, R&B and Dance Tents and DJs from the region, nationally and internationally.
The NonStop Foundation acquired Music in the Sun in late 2005, announcing the return of the event at the 3DOM Festival on Devonshire Green in August last year. The NonStop team, in consultation with previous organiser, Austin Grant, have set their sights high. It promises to be a lively, fun, colourful event for highlighting the benefits of multicultural interaction.
The event is supported by the Cultural Industries Quarter Equal Last Mile Project and is currently looking for sponsors, supporters and volunteers. If anyone is interested please contact The NonStop Foundation on 272 4753 or email musicinthesun@nonstopables.org for further information.
