The CIS (Children’s Information Service) is a citywide information organisation promoting children’s services for families and professionals in Sheffield, informing them about available daycare and other children’s services in and around the city.

CIS is currently delivering an information service in Burngreave, linking in with all childcare providers in the area to deliver information sessions at different neighbourhood points. The service is based at the new Children’s Centre on Spital Street.

“For any questions concerning child care or anything to do with special needs, access nursery education or schools then get in contact. Even if this concerns a child of an older age I will try to give you an answer, or find someone who can.” explains CIS worker Penny Wightwick (pictured). “I also offer information to people wanting to work in childcare or to become registered childminders and look forward to hearing from them.”

CIS drop-in sessions take place on Wednesdays at 9.30am–12.30pm Spital Street Children’s Centre and 1.30–4.00 pm at the SELCO Centre at Owler Brook School.
