With the support of the Area Panel and New Deal, last year GCA (Green City Action) produced five major events in the community.
The Burngreave Residents’ Events Forum was formed late last year to continue and develop the work of the award-winning Abbeyfield Park Multicultural Festival Committee in giving the community a key role in planning and production of Green City Action’s events.
The events team now meets with the Forum once a month at Abbeyfield Park House. Its members are made up of residents and people working for the Burngreave community. GCA would welcome the involvement of residents who would like to contribute their experience and skills to help deliver even better events in Burngreave. If you would like to get involved then ring Bob Worm or Dawn Jones for details on 244 0353. The next meeting is Wednesday 8th March, 2pm at Abbeyfield Park House.
This year’s events calendar is:
Abbeyfield Park Environmental Day – Sunday 21st May
Theatre in the Park – Friday–Sunday 2nd–4th June
Abbeyfield Park Multicultural Festival – Sunday 9th July
Fir Vale Festival – Sunday 16th July
Carnival of Lights – Friday 1st December
GCA is also working with children from local schools on a project for the Lord Mayor’s Parade this year. Please get in touch if you can help.
