As a recognition of people who have been ‘extra special’ in the area, the Panel awarded the following people and groups with a certificate and engraved clock at a reception in the Town Hall on 26th January 2006:

Muhammad Iqbal MBE – volunteer, BCAF and New Deal (recognition of national honour)

Kelvin Pine – volunteer, BCAF and New Deal

Yvonne Pine – volunteer, school governors

Susan Rodgers – school-crossing patrol at Firshill

Mohammed Shabere – builder and youth group volunteer

Abdul Shaif – volunteer, Yemeni community

Tracey Sparkes – childcare worker

Burngreave Problem Busters – voluntary group

Burngreave Sports Network – young people’s project

Ellesmere Children’s Centre – childcare provider
