The Grapes
The Grapes public house on Gower Street has been run by the same family for a number of years now. The present landlord, Martin, took over The Grapes when his mother Lucy retired. He and his wife Gina have worked very hard to make a very successful local.
The atmosphere they have created is both warm and friendly. You are made to feel very welcome and their presence behind the bar is much appreciated by one and all.
Beers on offer are Stones, Worthingtons and John Smiths Smooth, as well as popular lagers, ciders and Guinness. John Smiths Smooth at £1.70 is very popular. These are kept in excellent condition by the hard work of the landlord Martin, and with the same dedication, Gina keeps the bar area and pub in pristine condition.
There are two rooms, a very cosy snug or tap room and a partitioned room which restricts entertainment somewhat, so no disco or karaoke. Ask most of the customers though and this is what they find as a nice change – to have a conversation, without having to shout over loud music.
They also have one of the best teams in the Burngreave Tuesday Night Social League, and are currently at the number one spot; also the food prepared by Gina for these games is excellent.
So if you are in the area and fancy a good drink served in pleasant surroundings call in at The Grapes.
