A time of change

Burngreave is on the brink of significant change. This month the Sheffield press hailed Burngreave New Deal for Communities a success, but with five years still to go much could happen, and many changes will be beyond the control of New Deal.

Decisions about new housing or road schemes will be in the hands of the Council’s planning board and this month saw anxious residents around Catherine Street concerned by both Better Buses plans and Masterplan demolition proposals. Residents around Grimesthorpe also face a struggle to protect the valued green space near their homes.

The Burngreave community will need a strong unified voice if it is to get a real say in these changes.

Volunteers needed

Can you help us cover the Abbeyfield Festival? We need volunteers to take photos, collect people’s comments or interview the acts. If you’d like to be involved please get in touch.

The Messenger always needs more volunteers, if you can help with writing, photography, proofreading, decision making or if you just want to share the gossip we’d love to hear from you.
