Monte Carlo Pizza

A local entrepreneur’s gamble to turn two shops into one unique café experience has paid off.

Tawfer Alshemari, manager of Monte Carlo Pizza on Spital Hill, has discovered that an authentic blend of ingredients is the key to success in his bid to bring a taste of the laid-back continental café culture to Burngreave’s doorstep.

After previous incarnations, the new Monte Carlo is now in fact two shops knocked into one, which has created room for an ample seating area and even a child-friendly pool table.

And despite only opening in April a large number of customers are already taking a break from the daily grind by enjoying Monte Carlo’s impressive range of coffees and hot beverages, delicious home-made sandwiches, fruit juices and authentic pizzas, and by relaxing in its friendly cosmopolitan atmosphere.

“We are doing well now,” Mr Alshemari said. “Anybody who comes, comes again and again. They are happy with our sandwiches, our coffee and our prices. We have got a very positive reaction.”

Monte Carlo Pizza is open until 11pm every night and will also be screening World Cup football matches later this month.
