BCAT AGM

The Burngreave Community Action Trust (BCAT) AGM was held on 24th May 2006 at Pye Bank School with approximately 20 people attending.

The annual financial report was presented by Acting Executive Director, Paul Haine. Questions after included a query about the purchase of their base at 12–14 Burngreave Road. Kevin Hartney of the Forum (BCAF) responded by saying it is possible they may secure the building for less than market value from Sheffield Homes.

The Chair, Lynda Kenyon, presented her report. She felt the hard work of the Board of Trustees as well as the workers was not appreciated by New Deal. She considers the relationship between New Deal and BCAT/BCAF to be hostile and manipulative. She told the meeting that the terms and conditions set out by New Deal are nonnegotiable and their proposed quota of four core staff would greatly jeopardise the functionality of the organisation. It was noted that there was no representation from New Deal at the AGM to give any feedback from their point of view.

Trustees were elected as follows: Yvonne Hayes (Chair), Christine Steers (Secretary), Steve Cooke (Treasurer), Lynda Kenyon, Nsrine Ahmed and Chris Sissons.
