Support for African Caribbean students

As part of their social aims, SYAC (South Yorkshire African Caribbean Business and Enterprise Training Centre) has set up an Education Trust to support four African Caribbean students annually.

Who can apply?

  • You must be resident in South Yorkshire

  • Be of African Caribbean descent

  • Aged 16–18 or 18–25

  • Studying Science, Technology, Accounting, Engineering, Journalism or Business

  • Just gained entrance to University

Bursaries are awarded to supplement the essential costs of attending a course, conference, seminar, or training programmes. This will include fees and books essential to the course of study, equipment or materials, or to travel to special events or conferences.

There is no automatic help from the trust, each application will be considered on its merit. Applicants are required to provide details of two referees; one referee who can comment on your personal qualities and another who can comment on your training and educational achievement along with your motivation. Referees should not be a close family member.
