Mixed Communities

Burngreave residents value their present ‘mixed community’ and are aware that concentrated poverty brings disadvantage. But supporting and enhancing this mixed community must not be achieved by current residents losing their homes through demolition and being replaced with new wealthier residents.

We must remember that Burngreave has been built on a long-standing historical reputation for welcoming everyone, including the poor and destitute from near and far. Through the industrial revolution; the influx of the Irish community in the 19th century to more recent arrivals, Burngreave has welcomed all. Long may this reputation remain.
