Story: Lyn Brandon

Despite the poor weather the Shirecliffe Festival went ahead as planned on Saturday, 10th September. Even the donkeys made a brief appearance, but had to leave early (apparently donkeys don’t like the rain).

The organisers would really like to thank all the stall holders who turned up on the day, our volunteers who braved the rain from 7.30am and the young people who helped with the youth marquee and festival raffle. We had fantastic entertainment provided by Southey Strutters and All Stars Dance Group.

Thanks to Keepmoat who covered the costs of the entertainment marquee and to shops and businesses who donated goods and prizes.

Parkwood School were excellent, providing facilities and helping with the organising of the Festival. As things continue to change in Shirecliffe, its Forum hope to organise other events that bring the community together and show some of the regeneration work currently taking place in the area. In the meantime if you would like to know more about the work of Shirecliffe Forum – contact them 242 3366 or at the Shirecliffe TARA House, 92 Crumpsall Road.
