Story: Carl Rose

Joe Harris has grown up in Burngreave, living on Melrose Road for the last ten years. He has been into photography since the age of sixteen, steadily building up an impressive collection of photographs.

His interest in photography grew after doing a GNVQ in Art and Design at Loxley College. On the strength of his portfolio he has recently accepted a place on a three-year Commercial Photography degree at Derby University.

Joe recently went to the 3DOM Festival, held on Devonshire Green, to take some photos to add to his portfolio. He was welcomed by many of the artists and performers at the event, and took some great photos as a result. “I love to capture the whole urban street culture thing, such as DJing, breakdancing and graffiti in my photography”, said Joe. “I’m also into documentary photography and would love to work on a project that documents the changes of people and places”.

Speaking of Burngreave, Joe added, “I like the atmosphere of Burngreave, it is a nice community that has a good vibe about it, I love the big houses”.

When asked about his hopes for the future he stated, “I would love a well-paid job of course, and hopefully it will be through street or fashion photography that I will be able to do this”.
