Local residents from Friends of Osgathorpe Park have successfully fundraised to get a brand new toddler and junior playground installed. Since local children opened the playground in April, it has been non-stop play.
The first phase of the park’s improvements is nearly complete. One of the most popular parks in Burngreave, Osgathorpe Park has been crying out for regeneration for a number of years. Local people have been thrilled with their efforts over the last year. Improvements include new entrances, allowing wheelchairs and pushchairs to make easy entrance into the park, graffiti removal, clearance of sight lines so users feel safer, regular litter picks, a brand new art mural, bulb planting, benches and now a dog-free area with play facilities for families to play safely!
The hard work doesn’t stop here; the group are still fundraising for more artworks, benches, bins and sports facilities for older children in the park.
If you live near the park and think you could help support the Friends group, then they need your help! For information on how to join and what help you could give call the Burngreave Green Environment Programme
