Earl Marshall Under 9s

Story by Mick Ashman

Earl Marshall Juniors FC, our locally based under 9s football team, have just finished their second season together, finishing 9th in the Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League Y Division.

Although the season had its ups and downs it finished on an optimistic note with the boys putting in some fine performances during February and March. It has been fantastic to see the players’ progress over the course of the season, and all those connected with the club are looking forward to the new season.

Earl Marshall recently hosted the first Lovell Cup Tournament. The event provided an opportunity for teams of similar ability to play against each other, allowing them to build on what they had achieved over the season and to give them a realistic chance of winning a tournament. The day was a big success, both as a fundraising event and as an opportunity to raise the profile and community spirit of the club.

Sixteen teams took part, with the Cup being won by Whiston Wildcats, who beat Ecclesall Juniors in a tightly-contested final. Hillsborough Pumas were successful in the Trophy competition.

Earl Marshall Juniors are keen to sign unregistered players and are holding trials during the summer. For more information contact me on 276 6916 or Mark Moran- Healy on 0777 645 7732.
