The Yemeni Economic and Training Centre, which delivers services in Burngreave, Fir Vale and Attercliffe has gained Beacon Status from the Home Office.
Abdul Shaif, Chief Executive of the Yemeni Community Association which runs the centre, told the Messenger:
“It’s a fantastic achievement for the Yemeni Community Association and the Yemeni Economic and Training Centre. It demonstrates we are meeting new challenges.We appreciate the contribution of our funders including the Home Office, New Deal, Sheffield College and European funding. We are especially grateful to the staff at the centre who have been magnificent.”
The award assessed delivery, quality assurance, and relationship with clients. The centre, which provides advice, an ESOL programme and family support for the Yemeni community, was awarded a 5-star rating and is the only Yemeni organisation in the country to be given this status. The Beacon Status report stated that they excelled in all indicators, were highly effective, exceeded original targets, and had significant user involvement.
