Entering the ‘Sheffield In Bloom’ contest

Dear Messenger

In June I entered my front garden into the Lord Mayor’s ‘Sheffield In Bloom’ contest. I didn’t think I would get very far when there are so many lovely gardens in villages like Dore. The encouragement I received from my neighbours was amazing, they inspired me and made me realise that my small garden was for all of us.

I was invited to the Lord Mayor’s Parlour, where there were lots of people. We heard speeches that told us we were all winners.

I proudly received the runner up Award ‘highly commended, best kept front garden’ for my category and a round steel-framed certificate. It’s not just for me though, it’s for everyone who helped by picking up rubbish etc and who gave me the inspiration to put S4 firmly on the map. I am very grateful to my loving husband Jonathon and family who’s help has been invaluable.

The winners came from Wincobank, I offer my congratulations to them.

So I invite everyone from Dore to our area, to be welcomed into our proudly maintained gardens. S4 has a great deal to be proud about, so come on Abbeyfield Road, let’s show them our front gardens next year. Wishing you all happy gardening.

PS Who ever borrowed it, please could I have my little Japanese lady back even if broken-she’s part of the display? No questions asked, thank you.
