Yemeni leader cleared

In March this year the Messenger reported residents’ concerns about the arrest of the chair of the Yemeni Community Association, Abdul Shaif. The arrest occurred at Meadowhall in February 2004 after Mr Shaif tried to calm a confrontation between Security Guards and some young people. This month Mr Shaif was found not guilty of ‘verbal abuse against a police officer’. Mr Shaif told the Messenger:

“I have been vindicated by the court where I was found not guilty. I am very pleased with this outcome and so is my family.Thank you to Rob and everyone at the Messenger for your support.”
