Lighting Up Burngreave

By Kieron Williams – Area Co-ordinator for the Burngreave Area Panel

On Saturday 20th November the Lord Major officially turned on the festive lights on Elsmere Green to help brighten up Burngreave through the winter.

The six and a half thousand lights, which have been funded and arranged by the Burngreave Area Panel, will be on until the nights shorten again in March and then again next winter and for years to come.

The turn on was marked by the Burngreave Carnival of Light arranged by Green City Action (GCA) as part of the Burngreave Events Project (also part funded by the Panel). It was a wonderful event for all of those who turned out on what was a very chilly evening.

Our thanks go to GCA and all the entertainers and performers that helped make it such a wonderful occasion. Special thanks go to Panni Loh our departing events officer and we wish her the best of luck in her new job.
