At the recent BNDfC public meeting held at Verdon Street Recreation Centre on Friday 17 September 2004, a number of issues were raised and are detailed below:
More support should be provided for the elderly including care in the home and the maintenance of gardens.
Concern that new housing on Woodside wouldn’t be affordable to local residents.
Drug and gun crime in Burngreave is committed by outsiders not by local residents.
Improvement to properties through facelifting makes properties look attractive from the front but they are falling down at the back.
The African-Caribbean community need a centre as the building previously used in Ellesmere is now a facility for the Hindu community.
More support should be provided for residents who have lived in the area for a long time and want to set up a business.
